Woman, 2 kids hurt in Route 101 crash

MILFORD – A Massachusetts woman and two children were injured Sunday afternoon when their car collided with another car on the Route 101 bypass.

According to police, Susan M. Kern, 43, of Newton, Mass., was driving a 1998 Volvo station wagon westbound and tried to pass another vehicle when she lost control and skidded into the eastbound lane shortly before 12:23 p.m. The Volvo collided with a 2000 Volkswagen operated by Christopher D. Ainscough, 34, of Nashua. The accident happened on the western portion of the bypass, between Market Basket and Route 13.

Kern was transported to a Nashua hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other passengers in the Volvo, children, ages 10 and 12, were also transported by medical teams. One of the children was later transported to Boston Children’s Hospital with unknown injuries. No injuries were reported for Ainscough. Two ambulances from Milford and two from Amherst went to the scene, along with two Milford Fire Department engines. Amherst police assisted in closing Route 101, and it remained closed for less than an hour.

Police are investigating the accident and anyone with information is asked to call the Milford Police Department at 673-7742.
