Wilton building deemed unsafe is shut down
WILTON – An apartment building that the health inspector deemed unsafe was shut down Monday.
In early October, Wilton’s health inspector Rise Smythe-Freed issued an order to vacate for the building, at 30 Forest Road, because the landlord, Paul Schaefer, of Colby Street Realty, of Brookline, had not fixed serious problems with the building, including defective plumbing, dangerous wiring, structurally deficient railing, malfunctioning windows, trash in common areas, mold and leaky walls and roof.
Smythe-Freed gave Schaefer a deadline of Nov. 3 to satisfy her concerns, and on Monday she said many of those concerns had not been addressed.
