Trail clean-up a success
The Lyndeborough Trails Association was formed last year and is creating a system of trails across the town.
The group has been working all spring to clear the trails and roads of brush and ice storm debris.
Two weeks ago, a half-dozen volunteers met on Stonebridge Road to replace an old stone slab bridge that had been broken some years ago by a logging truck. Stonebridge Road, named for that the old bridge, connects Lyndeborough Center (from behind the old town hall) to South Lyndeborough by way of Putnam Hill Road, and is rated Class 6, owned but not maintained by the town.
It is a popular walking path.
Much of the trail system uses existing Class 6 roads. Other portions are on private land by agreement.
The trails are open for use by everyone on foot, horseback or snowmobile, but not all-terrain vehicles.
