Therapist eyes deal on child porn charge

A speech therapist facing a federal child pornography charge is negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors, court records show.

John McGarry worked for several years in Litchfield and Londonderry schools but was placed on leave after his arrest in May.

Prosecutors charge McGarry had child porn Dec. 26, 2008, somewhere in Rockingham County. An affidavit outlining some of the evidence behind the charge remains sealed, as prosecutors have said the investigation is ongoing.

On Wednesday, the prosecutor and McGarry’s lawyer both asked U.S. District Court Judge James Muirhead to postpone a deadline for indictment, to let them try to work out a plea agreement. McGarry remains free on personal recognizance.
