Teen in serious condition after 2-car crash in city

NASHUA – A city teenager is in serious condition following a crash that closed a portion of Canal and Bridge streets Tuesday night.

Police were called shortly before 9:30 p.m., when Jose Baez, 18, apparently lost control of his 1995 Acura while traveling east on Canal Street. Baez swerved into the westbound lane and struck a 1999 Jeep driven by David Osgood, 62, of Nashua, police said.

“We have reason to believe he lost control of the car a few hundred yards in front of the collision, and there are some serious tire marks out there,” Nashua police Lt. John Fisher said.

Baez had to be extricated from his car and was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, where he remained in serious condition Wednesday afternoon, Fisher said.

Osgood was treated and released from a Nashua hospital, police said. The investigation remains under investigation.
