Teen charged with assaulting child
A 16-year-old boy is accused of sexually assaulting a neighboring four-year-old boy, police reported this morning.
The teen was arrested last week, charged as a juvenile with two felony counts of sexual assault, Detective Lt. Jeff Bukunt said.
The assaults took place over the past several months, while the teen and the preschooler were together and otherwise unsupervised for short periods of time, Bukunt said.
Nashua police did not immediately announce the arrest because they wanted to investigate further first, he said. No other victims have been identified, and no decision has been made about whether the teen should be tried as an adult, Bukunt said.
Juvenile offenders are not identified, by state law. Sexual assault victims also are seldom named, by police and newspaper policies.
The teen was jailed while facing hearings in the juvenile division of Nashua District Court.
