Supermarket theft under investigation
Police are investigating the recent theft of roughly $7,000 from the Stop & Shop supermarket on Wason Road, according to department records.
Police Sgt. Michael Niven said Thursday that no arrests have been made as of yet, but investigating officers are in the process of identifying the suspect or suspects and hope to make an arrest in the near future.
Department records show that police were called to the market shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday by “loss prevention” employees, who said they had apprehended a store employee “who has been stealing from the store,” the record states.
Niven said he wasn’t sure if the theft involved cash or merchandise.
