Strength contest to help nonprofit

Some very large men are planning to lift very heavy things to raise money for struggling veterans.

“Setting the Record Straight” Strongman Challenge will take place at the Harbor Homes Training Institute on High Street at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, to raise money for veterans living in Harbor Homes’ transitional housing program.

The athletes will compete in the log press, dead lift and the Stone of Strength inside the 2,000-square-foot training institute. Admission is $5.

Harbor Homes is a nonprofit that offers residential and support services to people and families challenged by mental illness and/or homelessness. It helps more than 1,200 people annually and has two programs aimed at helping veterans.
