Sex offender caught, charged after crash

NASHUA – A sex offender who didn’t register with police was caught after being in an accident with a stolen car, police said.

Stanley Urbanowicz, 22, of 15 Balcom St., was arrested Saturday after initially giving a false name to a police officer when questioned about an automobile accident he was in, allegedly with a stolen car, Detective Lt. Jeffrey Bukunt said Monday.

Urbanowicz gave officer Kevin Collins the name of a friend who has no criminal record, Bukunt said. Urbanowicz is a convicted sex offender who must notify police every time he changes residences, but he didn’t do so after moving to Balcom Street, police said.

He is charged with theft by unauthorized taking, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, false report of an accident, and duty to inform for not registering, police said.
