Second citizen fire academy
Ever wonder how firefighters go about battling smoke and flames after you see them disappear into a burning building? Or what investigators look for in the pile of rubble to see where and how the fire started? Anyone interested in these and other details about how the members of the Milford Fire Department do their jobs has a chance to learn first-hand by signing up for the department’s second Citizen Fire Academy, which runs Aug. 26-Oct. 21.
Participants in the academy program take part in firefighter trainings, learn their techniques in fighting and investigating fires, and the science and behavior of fire, among other things. Sessions will be held on consecutive Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. at the station, 39 School St.
To register, stop by the fire station for an application and schedule, or go to www.fire.milfordnh.info and click on the “new stuff” link on the left of the page.
