School teams join forces for benefit

Merrimack High School sports teams reached out last week to help Lexi Kittle, a local 8-year-old who is battling a rare bone cancer.

The school’s varsity and junior varsity soccer and field hockey teams squared off in a “switch-it-up” sports fundraiser Nov. 7, with everyone playing field hockey in the first half and soccer in the second.

About 60 athletes participated, raising $2,400 for Kittle through admission, raffles and concessions. The money will help offset medical costs not covered by insurance.

Kittle has Ewing’s Sarcoma and has undergone extensive medical treatment during the past year.
