School beefs up security on Web site
The Merrimack School District has beefed up security on its homepage after an outside group was able to post a non-school-related link there last week.
Last Thursday, a community member made district officials aware that a link on the school’s homepage was leading to a foreign site, said Matt Shevenell, the district’s business administrator.
Shevenell said the foreign link was removed last Friday, and the school’s network administrator looked at the problem and added controls and security to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
He emphasized that the site wasn’t hacked and that student and personal information is housed on a separate server, so no sensitive information was accessed.
