Road closed after car knocks down utility pole

LITCHFIELD – A section of the Charles Bancroft Highway, also known as Route 3A, was closed overnight after a car knocked down a utility pole Sunday evening, police said.

The driver, Sharon Koniszewski, 64, of Hudson, suffered only minor injuries, Chief Joseph O’Brien said Monday morning. O’Brien said it appeared that her attention lapsed, causing her to veer off the southbound side of the road near the fire station about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. She was neither speeding nor intoxicated, he said.

The road remained closed until about 8:20 a.m. Monday, O’Brien said.
