Nashua Special Olympics, a local division of Special Olympics New Hampshire, is a program dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with developmental disabilities through competitive sports training. A nonprofit organization, Nashua Special Olympics consists of more than 300 athletes, coaches, volunteers and family members, who work together to train, organize and promote athletic opportunities for Special Olympics Athletes. The program offers both unified sports – partnering developmentally challenged athletes with peer mentors – and traditional sports.

Some of the many sports offered include Unified Basketball, Unified Bowling, Unified Softball, Unified Soccer, Swimming, Bocce, Track and Field, Unified Floor Hockey, Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoe and Unified Golf. Athletes train throughout the year and participate in local, regional, state and national competitions.

Nashua Special Olympics relies on the dedicated volunteers and family members, who donate their time coaching, partnering and organizing events. Fundraising and sponsorship is key to ensuring the program has the facilities and equipment it needs to provide opportunities to our athletes.

The cost to participate in the race and walk is $15 fee, which is waived by raising a minimum of $30 in donations. To register, visit www.pelhamoldhomeday. org/roadrace.htm for forms, contacts and more information.
