Red Cross Shelters open in the region

The Red Cross is running 12 shelters around the state to house some of the thousands of New Hampshire residents without heat, power or both, including for in the greater Nashua area.

Nashua – Nashua South High School – 36 Riverside Street

Milford – Milford Elementary School, 80 Heron Pond Road

Londonderry – Londonderry High School, 268C Mammoth Road

Manchester – Southern New Hampshire University Athletic complex, 2500 North River Road

Red Cross officials will also be at the Rockingham Mall in Salem Saturday recruiting volunteers to staff a thirteenth shelter in Salem, according to Rebecca Justice, executive director of NH Gateway Chapter of the American Red Cross.

During the day, several major malls have also opened their doors to people seeking warmth and somewhere to relax. Justice said she’s talked to representatives of the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, the Rockingham Mall and the Mall of New Hampshire, who said people without heat can warm up there.
