Recount set in selectmen's race
The recount of votes from one of last week’s selectman races has been scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Hudson’s Town Hall, according to Town Clerk Patty Barry.
Candidate Marilyn McGrath, who finished a close third to incumbent Ben Nadeau for one of the two, three-year Board of Selectmen seats, filed her request for the recount Friday.
McGrath garnered 1,574 votes, just shy of Nadeau’s 1,586. Incumbent Shawn Jasper topped the field with 1,787 votes.
The recount will take place in the Community Development room on the lower level at Town Hall. It is open to the public, but space is limited.
The recount will be conducted by a panel consisting of Town Clerk Barry, town moderator Paul Inderbitzen, and the Board of Selectmen, for which Inderbitzen will appoint two alternates to replace Nadeau and Jasper.
Inderbitzen said six counting teams will spend most of the first hour separating the ballots before starting to tally them. He estimated the process will run until roughly 10:30 p.m.
