Plans merge on spending grant funds
NASHUA – Two competing resolutions on how to spend nearly $1 million in federal grants were packaged into one and debated Thursday night.
The mayor spun the two resolutions as complementing one another, and an alderman touted the combined package as a compromise.
However, another aldermen noted the amended resolution to spend the federal dollars just rolled the two resolutions together, with the result being a plan that would spend nearly twice as much as the city expects to receive. “The two plans are now contained under one roof, so to speak. I see a compromise developing, and it’s on our desk this evening,” Ward 8 Alderman Dave MacLaughlin said during a meeting of the aldermen’s human affairs committee.
