NH GOP lauds local couple's volunteer work
Although Chuck and Di Lothrop have belonged to the Nashua Area Republican City Committee for only three or four years, they rolled up their sleeves and got to work as volunteers.
Chuck Lothrop served as webmaster for the organization, and Di served as event director.
They were thanked for their efforts Jan. 17, when the state Republican Committee presented them the Norris Cotton Award.
“We were very surprised,” Di Lothrop said. “It was a very nice gesture.”
The award was presented at the state convention to select the new party chairman, which the couple attended as delegates. They were nominated for the honor by the Nashua Area Republican City Committee.
Although the Lothrops had only formally belonged to the city committee for a short time, they were no strangers to party members.
“We’ve been very active in local politics for a long time,” Di Lothrop said.
What made the Norris Cotton Award more of an honor: Di said she was told by several people that she and her husband were the first couple to receive the award.
