New farmers market to be held Fridays

For those who work in Nashua and live elsewhere, coming to the downtown farmers market on a Sunday might not be ideal. For those people who don’t make it into the city much on weekends, the Great American Downtown will be holding a new farmers market in the School Street parking lot every Friday from 2-6 p.m.

“We have thousands of people who work downtown Monday through Friday,” said GAD’s Sue Butler. “Then Friday at 5 p.m., they leave for the weekend, and we don’t see them again till Monday. For people who live outside the city, we wanted to offer something to them before they go home for the weekend.”

The new farmers market offers many new vendors, selling everything from fruit and vegetables, to sweaters, wine and hand-made pens. “The primary thing for people to remember is that you can easily walk to it from your job downtown,” said Butler. “But there’s also plenty of parking for those that are coming from farther away.”
