New DWC head named
NASHUA – The director of the Woburn, Mass., campus of ITT Tech has been named the interim president of Daniel Webster College in Nashua.
Nadine Dowling took over the college Wednesday after President Robert Myers said he was fired and escorted off campus.
Dowling is listed as the director of the North Boston campus of ITT Tech in Woburn in the college’s brochure. ITT Tech, a for-profit institution, purchased the financially strapped Daniel Webster College this summer.
In addition to Myers’ firing Wednesday, the college laid off 23 employees last week, in the first round of what is expected to be up to 60 people being laid off.
Dowling wasn’t available in the president’s office Thursday.
Dowling introduced herself in a letter to students on the Daniel Webster College Web site.
In the letter, dated Aug. 6, Dowling goes through some of the events that have happened at the college since the acquisition. “Several offices within the college have been reorganized to provide better services,” she wrote. “Some offices may have moved to create ‘one-stop shopping’ and greater convenience for you, and you can continue to count on getting the same personalized attention you have always received.”
Several facilities have been targeted for renovation, she wrote, including Baddour Library, which will have “a new Internet cafe and refreshed computer and learning spaces.”
Daniel Webster Hall will be repainted with new carpeting, and a new residence hall will be built in place of Lincoln Hall, Dowling wrote.
It is not known when a permanent president will be hired.
