More info needed on relocation
Historic District Commission needs more information before it can decide whether to OK a request to relocate the Mont Vernon General Store to a new building proposed for the corner of Route 13 and Francestown Turnpike.
The commission held a hearing last week but said they needed more information on lighting, signage, color and driveway construction.
Nember Linda Foster suggested the commission hold a joint session with the Planning Board at the end of August.
The applicant, store co-owner Julie Whitcomb, and her architect, Rolf Biggers of Amherst, were allowed 15 minutes to make a presentation.
Whitcomb said there was a need for a restaurant in the village and the store’s present location does not allow for expansion. Other than the applicant, none of the dozen people present spoke in favor of the plan.
