Milford: Minivan snaps pole; driver hospitalized
Emergency crews responded to an accident on Ridgefield Drive late Tuesday morning, police said.
The 1997 Dodge minivan driven by Susan Schoolcraft, 42, of Milford, was eastbound on Ridgefield Drive about 10:15 a.m., when it left the roadway in the area of Briarcliff Drive, striking a utility pole support wire at 124 Ridgefield Drive. As a result of the accident, the pole was broken and PSNH was called to fix it.
Witness Charles Pendleton was outside getting something from his truck when he heard a loud pop. He turned to look and saw the van snap a utility pole across the street.
The driver appeared to be having a seizure, Pendleton said. She was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, but speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, said police Capt. Christopher M. Nervik.
