Mexican sentenced, awaits deportation
An illegal immigrant found living in Nashua last fall was turned over to federal authorities Thursday for his eventual deportation. Manuel Antonio Rivera-Lopez, 41, of Cajeme, Mexico, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to time served in jail and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, according to Michael Gunnison, acting U.S. attorney.
Rivera-Lopez was found living in Nashua on Nov. 19 during the execution of an unrelated search warrant, Gunnison said. He had illegally re-entered the country after being deported twice in 2001 and 2007, Gunnison said.
Rivera-Lopez has been in custody since the Nov. 19 arrest and pleaded guilty to a charge of re-entry to the United States after deportation on Feb. 11, Gunnison said.
