McGrath considering recount for selectman
HUDSON – Almost lost in the town’s whirlwind of ballot negativity Tuesday was the tight race for a three-year selectman seat between incumbent Ben Nadeau and challenger Marilyn McGrath.
Nadeau, currently the board chairman, barely edged out McGrath for one of the two open seats, 1,586 votes to 1,574.
McGrath said Wednesday that she’s contemplating whether to file for a recount.
“I’m still considering whether to do that,” she said. “I’ve been encouraged to do so, but I don’t yet know if I want to.”
The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Town Clerk Patty Barry said.
Incumbent Shawn Jasper took first in the race with 1,787 votes.
There were also 142 write-in votes cast, but they won’t affect the outcome of the three-way race, Barry said.
