Man shot in back leaves hospital
A Merrimack man accidentally shot in the back by his brother, who was unloading a revolver, has been released from the hospital.
Weare police say Justin Dean, 20, of 6 Jade Road, was shot by his brother, Josiah Dean, 20, of the same address, while the two men and a third brother were driving in Weare, following a morning of hunting.
Justin Dean was in the front passenger seat and Josiah Dean was in the back unloading a revolver when the gun discharged, police said. The bullet went through the seat and into Justin Dean’s back, police said.
Justin Dean was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester, then treated and transferred to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, where he underwent surgery.
He was released Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Police are continuing to investigate.
