Man injured in 2-vehicle crash

A Merrimack man went to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries following a weather-related two-car accident Monday morning.

Police responded to the area of McQuestion and Turkey Hill roads just before 7:30 a.m. for a reported two-car crash and found a 1994 Toyota pickup truck and a 2009 Mercury Milan in the road, both with heavy front-end damage, police said.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the truck, 17-year-old Eric Silva, of 51 Meetinghouse Road in Merrimack, lost control on the snow-covered road and slid into the path of the Mercury, police said.

The driver of the Mercury, Nicholas Sakelaris, 57, of 11 Cobblestone Place, was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center with what appeared to be nonlife threatening injuries, police said.

Silva and his passenger, his 13-year-old sister, were not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and the crash is still under investigation, police said.
