Man charged with firing gun

HUDSON – A Litchfield man was arrested after witnesses told police he fired a gun in the parking lot next to Jette Field after an argument Friday night, police report.

The incident took place at 9:40 p.m. and Travus Cooper, 21, of Litchfield, was arrested about 20 minutes later, police reported. Cooper was held on a felony reckless conduct charge, his bail set at $2,000.

Cooper had fled the ball field off County Road, but witnesses identified him as the shooter, police said.

Police are still investigating whether the round was aimed into the air or elsewhere, but they’re satisfied that it wasn’t directed toward any person, residence or vehicle, Lt. Kevin DiNapoli said.

“We’re definitely certain of that. There was no attempt to injury anybody,” DiNapoli said.
