Man caught in Internet sex sting

A man who thought he was soliciting sex from a juvenile on the Internet actually was dealing with an undercover officer, police said.

Joseph Gentile, 23, of 230 White Mountain Highway, Chocorua, was arrested Wednesday and charged with several felonies for improper use of the computer, police said. He thought he was communicating with a juvenile younger than 16 but instead solicited a Hudson undercover officer, police said.

Police conducted the undercover online operation this month and netted Gentile, police said. Police traveled to Chocorua to arrest him.

Gentile is charged with certain uses of computer services prohibited and two counts of indecent exposure and lewdness – all Class B felonies.

Two search warrants, one obtained by Hudson police and the other by State Police, were executed at Gentile’s residence, police said.

Police said Thursday that the content and nature of the search warrants will not be opened because it is an ongoing investigation.

Gentile was released on $20,000 personal recognizance bail. He will be arraigned at Nashua District Court on March 5.
