Ice storm memories captured

James Maynard of Greenfield, owner of SciArt Media, has put together a coffee-table book about the December ice storm that will be releases today at an event in Milford.

The coffee-table book, “Black Ice: The Beauty and Destruction of New Hampshire’s Great Ice Storm and Blackout of 2008,” is a collection of pictures and stories from more than 40 New Hampshire residents.

The book release party and book signing will be at the Toadstool Bookshop in the Lorden Plaza today at 2 p.m.

The book is printed in an 8-1/2-by-11-inch format on keepsake quality paper to bring out details in more than 60 color photographs.

There are also several true stories that tell how New Hampshire families dealt with both the storm and lack of electricity, hot food or running water.
