Home sales in NH starting to improve

New Hampshire home sales are starting to pick up as prices continue to plummet, according to July statistics released Thursday by the New Hampshire Association of Realtors.

According to the Realtors, 1,169 homes were sold in July, a 5.9 percent increase over the previous July, though only 18 more home sales than in June. The Realtors emphasize the July marked the second consecutive year-to-year increase in residential sales – the sales increase in June was 0.5 percent.

Year-to-date, however, sales still lagged behind last year by 2 percent.

Meanwhile, the median price of a home in New Hampshire has fallen to $220,000, a decline of 9.6 percent from last year, and $5,000 less than the previous month. Year-to-date the median home price was $211,000, a 12.6 percent decline form the same period a year earlier.
