Hiker groups lost in woods rescued

Twice this month, local police and fire departments had to search for hikers who became lost in the woods after dark. On Sept. 11, three hikers called 911 from a cell phone around 8:45 p.m., saying they were possibly on the Lyndeborough side of Purgatory Falls, at a trail junction called “Larry’s Field.”

About 30 people, including Larry and Sharon Boisvert, searched the Boisverts’ Feel Good Farm with their all-terrain vehicles. Police, fire and state Fish and Game Department personnel also searched.

The Boisverts found William Phoenix, 24, and Shannon Daniels, 28, both of Manchester, and Jes Sisco, 24, of Charlton, Mass., according to a press release from Lyndeborough police officer Kevin Maxwell.

On Sept. 3, two hikers became lost in the dark while hiking the North Pack Monadnock trails from Temple. They were discovered on logging trails off Woodward Drive.
