High Hopes for more help
MERRIMACK – An all-volunteer organization dedicated to granting wishes of seriously ill children will hold two charity events this month.
The High Hopes Foundation of New Hampshire, based in Merrimack, will first sponsor the 18th annual Peterborough Open Golf Tournament at Crotched Mountain Golf Club in Francestown. The cost is $110 per player, which includes a lunch buffet, greens fee and a cart. The event will include contests, prizes, raffles and awards. Registration will be at 7:45 a.m., with a “shotgun start” at 8:30.
Then, on Aug. 23, the foundation will host the 8th annual Poker Run which is a motorcycle ride with specific stopping points where participants pick up a playing card.
At the end of the ride, the player with the best hand wins a prize. Registration is at 9 a.m., and the ride starts from the Hudson VFW on Bockes Road. Participants are being asked to donate $15 for the event, which will include music, raffles and other prizes.
