The Nashua Garden Club is sponsoring a free, three-part series on the basics of vegetable gardening. All sessions will be held at the First Baptist Church at 121 Manchester St. from 7-9 p.m. Here’s the schedule:
Wednesday, “Planting a recession garden.”
Speaker: Connie Campbell, a University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension master gardener. She will discuss beginner vegetable gardening, choosing and preparing a site, soil testing, best plant varieties, watering, mulching and fertilizing.
June 3, “Insect problems in the vegetable garden.”
Speaker: Professor Alan Eaton, head of entomology at UNH, will discuss common vegetable garden insects, how
to identify them and what to do about them.
September 2, “Preserving the harvest.” Speaker: Alice Mullen, UNH Cooperative Extension educator and registered dietician, will discuss and demonstrate preserving foods, including freezing and drying.
