Four homes broken into in one week
A burglar struck two more houses in Hudson early Friday morning bringing the total burglaries in the neighborhood to four in less than a week.
Someone entered the latest house through an unlocked window and took a purse, according to a Hudson Police Department press release.
Another burglary on Sullivan Road was reported Friday afternoon and is believed to have happened overnight. Nothing was taken in that incident, according to the release.
Police first heard about the burglaries Aug. 3 when a resident reported waking up and hearing someone in his or her kitchen.
Shortly after that call, two more people, one on Hudson Hills Drive and one on Lawrence Road, reported that someone had broken into their homes while they were asleep, police said.
While investigating those incidents, police discovered attempted break-ins at two other Lawrence Road homes. The suspect or suspects fled before police arrived.
Capt. Don Breault said the burglars have entered the homes through unlocked doors or windows and haven’t ventured far into the houses, preferring to grab things nearby, such as wallets or purses, before making a getaway.
Police don’t have any suspects but believe the break-ins are related.
Residents are encouraged to make sure they lock their doors and first-floor windows before going to bed and calling police immediately at 886-6011 if they have any information about the burglaries or if they notice anything or anyone suspicious particularly in the area of Route 111, according to the release.
