Fire department promotions

Three members of the Milford Fire Department were promoted this week.

Capt. Jeffrey Carter was promoted to deputy fire chief. A 20-year veteran of the department, he will oversee operational aspects of the department. Carter was selected as Fire Officer of the Year in 2007 and received the Chief’s Leadership Award in 2008.

Lt. Michael Parkhurst was promoted to captain. He has been with the department since 2002 after many years with the Amherst Fire Department. With his promotion to captain he will take over command of Company 2.

Firefighter Dennis Shepard was promoted to lieutenant. A 10-year department veteran, Shepard is the only member of the call department who has been to the National Fire Academy twice for training.
