Fire damages home’s garage

Firefighters knocked down a garage fire early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews arrived at 12 Kenyon St. at 3:40 a.m. to find Jeff and Karen Hudgins and their two children on the front lawn and heavy black smoke coming from the garage, Hudson Fire officials said in a press release.

Firefighters worked the blaze from the house side, pushing the fire and smoke out of the garage, the release said. There was wall and ceiling damage to the garage and slight smoke damage to the house, the release said.

It appears the Hudginses will continue living in the home and await their insurance company’s assessment, the release said. The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but Fire Investigator Steve Dube is leaning toward it being an accidental fire, the release said.
