Event explores ‘imperative’ of responsibility

“Social Responsibility: Competitive Advantage to Competitive Imperative” is the theme of New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility’s annual spring conference.

The daylong conference begins at 8 a.m. May 24 at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord.

Keynote speaker will be Andrea Moffat, senior director of corporate programs at Ceres, a national network of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies and investors to address sustainability challenges. Moffat oversees Ceres’ corporate accountability, governance and outreach programs.

The event also will feature several breakout sessions focusing on such topics as:

• “What the Recession Has Taught Us About Business Sustainability”

• “Orientation to ISO 26000 —International Standard Guidelines for Social Responsibility”

• “The Triple Bottom Line as a Decision Making Tool for Sustainable Business Practices”

• “Getting Started in Corporate Social Responsibility – Basics 101: A Practical Guide”

Also as part of the event will be presentation of NHBSR’s annual Cornerstone Award, which is presented to an individual, business or organization that exemplifies the concepts of corporate social responsibility.
