Dump truck crash puts 2,000 in dark
MERRIMACK – A dump truck crashed into a utility pole early Thursday morning, pulling down wires and knocking out power to about 2,000 residences and businesses.
The privately owned truck hit the pole on Henry Clay Drive, near Daniel Webster Highway, after 6 a.m., Merrimack fire Lt. Brian Dubreuil said. Roughly 2,000 Public Service of New Hampshire customers in south Merrimack and north Nashua lost power.
PSNH crews quickly restored service for all but 100 affected customers, and by 11:30 a.m. only six customers in the area of the pole were still without power, spokesman Matt Chagnon said. PSNH aimed to have all power restored by 1 p.m., he said.
Police didn’t immediately return a phone call about the crash.
