Donate craft supplies for family's drive

A fundraiser to honor a Merrimack boy who died of cancer and help other sick children is underway.

The Birthday Presents for Nathan Fundraiser is named after Nathan Carlson, a 7-year-old who, in 2006, spent months at Children’s Hospital Boston for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia. He died in July of that year.

Family members said Nathan wanted to help other sick children. After he died, his family and friends carried out his wish by collecting presents around his birthday and donating them to the oncology and transplant floors at the hospital.

Now in its third year, the fundraiser seeks craft items to supply rooms in the hospital where children focus on creative projects and activities. New craft items and gift cards will be collected through the first week in December at a box in St. James Methodist Church on 646 Daniel Webster Highway.
