District doesn't buy suspect spreads

School district officials said Tuesday that peanut butter served in school cafeterias is not part of a recent national recall.

Jeanette Kimbell, director of food services, said in an e-mail statement that the school district does not purchase King Nut or Parnell’s Pride peanut butter. Both brands are being recalled because of a salmonella risk.

No evidence of a salmonella risk is evident in any brand of peanut butter served in school district cafeterias, she said.
