Crash involving local man injures runner

ATKINSON – A Milford man was involved in a collision that injured a renowned runner, the Eagle-Tribune reported.

Atkinson Police had no information available on the crash Saturday.

According to the Eagle-Tribune, police said Richard Testa, 27, of Milford, was heading south on East Road when his Ford Thunderbird crossed the center line and hit a northbound pickup truck, operated by William Melanson, 40, of Hampstead.

As a result of the collision, the rear end of Melanson’s truck struck Mark Kimball, 49, of Atkinson, who was running along the roadway near his home, the paper reported. Kimball was rushed to Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Thursday, the paper reported Friday.

Kimball is one of the fastest runners to ever graduate from Timberlane High School, the paper reported, and was a high school All-American in 1978 and a Division I All-American in cross country in 1981 while he was a student at Boston University.

Police were investigating the crash and have yet to file any charges, the paper reported.
