Cop sneaks up on two in sub shop drug bust

A uniformed Merrimack police officer sneaked up on two teenagers who just completed a drug transaction at a D’Angelos fast-food restaurant, police said.

An unidentified uniformed officer saw the two and another teen behind the Amherst Road sub shop Thursday night and was able to approach undetected, police said. The three Merrimack residents face an assortment of charges.

Richard Grenier, 18, of 23 Cota Road, purchased a bag of marijuana from 17-year-old Christian Bird, of 4 Sunrise Drive, police said. Bird consented to a search of his car and police found 11 individually-wrapped bags of marijuana, police said.

A teen with Grenier, 18-year-old Seamus Reilly, of 24 Fairway Drive, possessed a small amount of marijuana and had a bag of mixed pills for which he had no prescription, police said.

Bird faces a charge of controlled drug with intent to distribute and a charge of marijuana sales, police said. Grenier is charged with marijuana possession.

Reilly faces three charges of illegal possession of prescription drugs, and a single count each of marijuana possession and transporting drugs.

The teens were released on personal recognizance bail and are slated to appear in district court Nov. 25.
