Club hosting night for council, board hopefuls
Residents are being invited to meet and question those vying for Town Council and School Board seats tonight. The Exchange Club of Merrimack is sponsoring a “candidates night” at Merrimack High School’s Little Theater.
Each of the 10 candidates will give a short statement, answer questions submitted by the audience and then end with a closing statement. In addition, organizers have posed generic questions to each candidate, copies of which will be available to the public.
Ted Parmenter, president of the Exchange Club – a community service organization with a special emphasis on children’s needs – will moderate the event, which begins at 7 p.m.
There are three open spots on the Town Council and seven candidates: Dan Dwyer, Tom Koenig, Thomas Lynam, Michael Turcotte and incumbents Tom Mahon, Mike Malzone and David Yakuboff.
There are two open spots on the School Board and three candidates: Shannon Barnes and incumbents Jennifer Thornton and Jody Vaillancourt.
