On Saturday November 30th from 1:00-2:00 PM, Captain Tom Turkey will lead his Fearless Fowl Feathered Friends as they plunge into the frigid waters of Corcoran Pond raising funds for the Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports Program.
The proceeds raised at the 7th annual Cold Turkey Plunge will be used to purchase specialized adaptive athletic equipment and provide ski and snowboard lessons and equipment for children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities.
All plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $50 in donations. They will be rewarded with an official Plunge shirt, a gourmet cold turkey sandwich courtesy of Chef Sean Stout of the Coyote Grill, a Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports “Empowered Bracelet,” and a coupon for a free hour of tubing at the Waterville Valley Tubing Center this winter.
Additional premium incentives will be awarded for reaching fundraising benchmarks. Prizes will be presented to individuals and teams in a variety of categories including Best Costume. Costumes are optional, but encouraged.
Become a VP, that’s a Virtual Plunger. Make a donation of $50 or more to team VP at www.firstgiving.com/event/wvas/7th-Annual-Cold-Turkey-Plunge, and send a goofy picture of yourself to email@example.com. WVAS will photoshop you splashing and plunging in the icy waters of the pond.
At 3:30PM Santa arrives in Town Square bearing gifts and candy for each child who comes to visit.
Parents are welcome to take photos of their children with Santa. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served.
A suggested donation from those who are able, of $5 per child or $10 per family will be gratefully accepted. All proceeds will be donated to the Whole Village Family Resource Center in Plymouth, NH.
Then at 7:00PM a tree lighting ceremony will take place in Town Square followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Corcoran Pond. Enjoy the winter ambiance of our village with your family by the outdoor fireplace or partaking of holiday hospitality in one of our cozy shops.
