Bridge replacement work continues in Lyndeborough

Lyndeborough – Work is progressing on the replacement of the Gulf Road Bridge. The old, narrow bridge was condemned by the state some years ago, but reconstruction was delayed until state funds were available. The old bridge has been removed.

The new bridge will be two lanes.

Work is being done by Bayview Construction Corporation of Portsmouth. Work is expected to be completed “by Thanksgiving,” according to town officials.

Cost of the work was estimated at $930,800, with the state paying 80 percent of the costs, or $744,800.

A capital reserve established some years ago contains $146,000.

The remaining $40,000 comes from the general fund.
