Board member term still vacant
The Milford School Board deadlocked Monday night on the choice of someone to fill the term of a member who resigned in March, passing the question on to selectmen, who will decide who will fill out the term of John Parker.
On Monday night, the School Board held a question-and-answer session with four candidates – there had been five, but Richard Delier withdrew prior to the meeting.
Paul Dargie nominated Ron Carvell and Len Mannino nominated former School Board member Bob Willette.
The vote was 2-2 and School Board Chairman Peter Bragdon, who supported Willette, said the board would “send our little conundrum over to the Board of Selectmen.”
Mannino said he wanted someone who is a fiscal conservative and “who supports the New Hampshire Constitution,” and Bragdon said he supported Willette because of his knowledge of the school district and his budget philosophy.
Bert Becker joined Dargie in supporting Carvell.
The new School Board member will serve until the March 2010 election. Parker resigned last month, citing professional reasons.
