Bianchi’s tasty new venture

A former selectman is bringing a New York-style deli to the old Milford Fish Market building on Nashua Street.

Doug Bianchi said Bianchi’s Deli will open in about a week. The deli is in the red building next to Edgewood Plaza.

Bianchi’s will serve deli sandwiches, soups and salads.

“They are going to be big sandwiches,” said Bianchi. “You’ve got to bring your appetite.”
Bianchi is a longtime cook. As a youth he worked as a dishwasher and cook for Philbrick’s Restaurant on the Oval. For 15 years he cooked large meals for VFW functions, including chicken dinners for 200 people.

This isn’t the first time Bianchi had a business in Milford. He had been the owner of Milford Paint and Wallpaper until he sold it in 1995.

Bianchi made headlines last year when he was convicted of two misdemeanor gambling charges for activities at the VFW. In court, the judge said it was clear Bianchi wasn’t involved with the gambling operation for personal gain but was trying to help the VFW pay its bills.
