Bear spotted around Nashua apartments
NASHUA – A 300-pound black bear lumbering through the Royal Crest apartment complex on Daniel Webster Highway on Saturday morning evaded police, even though it appeared to have an injured leg.
Police said officers responded to a call at 7:30 a.m. from someone who had spotted the bear.
Police found the bear when they arrived at the scene, but the animal fled and police were unable to find it.
State police and New Hampshire Fish and Game assisted with the search.
Police remind residents that with the advent of hunting season, animals may be driven from the woods and enter inhabited areas.
“People should leave them alone and call your local police department,” police said in a prepared release.
