Attempted robber on the loose
MERRIMACK – An employee of the VIP at 714 Route 101A suffered minor injuries during a robbery attempt Sunday afternoon.
Police are now looking for a white male approximately 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches and weighing between 250 and 300 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a black knit cap, puffy jacket and dark pants.
According to employee, the suspect knocked on the store’s window at around 4:25 p.m., which is just after closing time. The man stated that his car just broke down and he needed a new belt for it.
The employee let the man in and began to look up part-numbers. While the employee was at the computer, the man came around the counter with his hand in his pocket indicating he had a weapon.
After the suspect told the employee he was being robbed, the employee pushed the suspect and a fight ensued. The suspect punched the employee several times in the face and then fled on foot. The employee suffered minor cuts to his lip and refused medical treatment.
