April new hire numbers remain steady

It certainly could have been a lot worse: The number of newly hired workers in April remained essentially unchanged from March.New Hampshire employers added 16,304 new employees to their payrolls last month – just 281 more, or 1.8 percent, over the 16,023 workers added in March, according to figures provided by the New Hampshire Department of Economic Security.Things could have been better as well.April’s figures were 5.2 percent below the same month a year ago, when some 17,347 were hired.Employment Security does not provide analysis for hiring patterns. The department tracks the data monthly from W4 forms submitted by employers, which are required by law to report new hire information. – CINDY KIBBE/NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSINESS REVIEW
